Britney Spears has received praise from an unlikely fan, musician Jack White.
The White Stripes frontman and Dead Weather guitarist was giving an impromptu lecture at Trinity College where he said Britney Spears was more authentic than Bob Dylan and Tom Waits.
He said: “I don’t know if Bob Dylan and Tom Waits are as authentic as I think they are. Perhaps they’re not. Sometimes you start thinking that maybe Britney Spears or someone like that who’s doing exactly what they want to do in the way that they best know how, is more authentic than any of those people you could mention.”
Jack may have a point – whatever you think of her music, Britters has been performing her pop routine since the tender age of 13 when she was on the Mickey Mouse Club. It’s obviously a career she loves. She’s been living out the ups and downs of her life in the tabloid press for the past 10 years – you can’t get more honest than that, can you?

She had to mime on X factor. How hard can it be to sing 'womanizer 20 times. She makes good videos and is the typical image of white american beauty. She is just a young woman trying to earn a decent living by doing things that people will pay her to do. She is not trying to be a hero
