Looks like fans of David Tennant’s Doctor need not mourn his loss – he’ll be back in a Doctor Who movie.
Buried at the foot of a recent BBC press release is news that will have a million Doctor Who fans foaming at the mouth. According to Auntie Beeb, a “script is in development” for a feature-length Who adventure and rumours suggest that this will exist as a separate entity from the new series.
So, in all probability, while David Tennant will hand over the baton to latest doc Matt Smith for the new TV series, Tennant himself will live on as the Doctor in movie form. Excited? Our sonic screwdriver is trembling with anticipation.
Quite frankly, a new Who movie could set the British film industry alight in much the same way as Harry Potter did all those years ago – the fanbase is huge, the writing is sharp and there’s no limit to the places the Doctor can go. Is it just us, or is anyone else confused as to why the BBC didn’t do this years ago?
[Movie Editor is reminded of the terrible Paul McGann Doctor Who movie] Ah yes. Well, as long as it’s better than that monstrosity, we’re on board.
Are you excited about a new Doctor Who movie? Does David Tennant have what it takes to regenerate the British film industry? Vote below!
