In the works almost as long as Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy, American soft-core rock band The Flaming Lips have finally got around to releasing the film shot almost entirely in their singer's back garden - Christmas On Mars.
Go to their website to see clips and a disturbing game. Perhaps this is the start of a trend as The Lips aren't the only music act making their own film. It's been announced that every copy of 50 Cent's next album - Before I Self Destruct - which will be out early in 2009, will come packaged with a movie written, directed and starring the man himself.
According to 50 "Times are hard... I want to give my fans something extra for their hard-earned dollars.". How about taping 10 quid to every CD?
All of which got me hunting on YouTube for the worst movie/music crossovers ever made - surely a tie between Sgt Pepper starring The Bee Gees: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DUNs3sibD98 (although the Steve Martin bit looks good), ABBA: The Movie: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=FT5ILwnGGW8 and the horrific Spice World: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NhzymHPdal8 (although Meat Loaf was OK). S Club Seeing Double http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=p7bXamJyS10 - now there was a movie.
