Dethroned King Of Pop Michael Jackson is following Buddy Holly, Queen and Take That by transforming his back catalogue into a stage musical...

According to reports in the New York Post, Thriller: The Musical is in the works and will be based on the epic 1983 John Landis directed video, as famously recreated by the inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, Cebu, Philippines.

Thriller: The Musical has the makings of a hit but producers would be wise to remember the countless less successful pop musicals based on hit artists such as UB40's Promises And Lies and the Madness-backed Our House.

At the opposite end of the spectrum much missed diamond geezer of punk Ian Dury will be the latest UK artist to have his life recreated in the theatre when Hit Me! opens at The Courtyard in North London starting on the 25th November: http://www.thecourtyard.org.uk/whatson/36/hit-me-the-life-rhymes-of-ian-dury.

Musicals based on the life and times of The Jam or the terrible videos of Tears For Fears or Duran Duran must surely be on their way. But what artist's music would you actually like to see transformed into an all-singing all-dancing story? And if you're partial to a pop musical what are the best ones?

    yes who wrote dethrouned . ive heard it all before this person will still be following all the other sheep and non believers out there ang going out and buying his next album and wanting to get tickets to see him live next year and saying how they always thought he was the best ... go on get lost and sacked ...crap journalism. you should work for the sport .prat.

    HOW CAN THE WORLDS BIGGEST ARTIST OF ALL TIME BE DETHRonED. HE HAS SOLD MORE RECORDS THAN ANY OTHER ACT AND IF HE NEVER DID ANOTHER RECORD IT WOULD STILL BE IMPOSSABLE FOR ANYonE TO OUTSELL HIM.
